first time incubating

Good! The more he works for it, as long as he is eventually successful, the stronger he will be.

Sounds like the humidity was too low to allow the shell to soften prior to hatch.

I've got the shell chipped away 2/3 of the way around and then chips off from his pip hole to the air cell hole. Started removing a bit of membrane and didn't see any blood but I found a foot! He's got his bill under his foot instead of the wing. What should I do next?

he will need your help. Go ahead and keep opening the membrane around the chipped line. Work slowly and gently. And share a photo so we can help guide better!

Keep unzipping. He's ready to come out. Once the end of the egg is hinged open, let him wiggle a bit but it looks like you will have to help him out.

I chipped the egg shell downwards and a drop of blood came out. I've put tissue on it and it looks like its stopped on the outside but he's gonna need bit more time I guess. I really hope he's gonna be OK.

was the blood bright red or a brownish red? It's not uncommon to have a drop or two get stuck in the membrane. If it stopped immediately then I'd suspect it was just membrane blood. Gently keep advancing, free his head a bit more.
