First timer!

You can use warm water and maybe a little Dawn dish soap to gently wash the chick and remove the shell. If there's no other eggs hatching, you can do it now and just put it back in the bator to dry.
Thank you so much- that’s what we did- it worked like a charm :) chick seems much happier and more comfortable now too

So far I’ve got 8 healthy chicks and one that I’m thinking is not gonna make it. I had locked down 4 eggs in a second incubator two hatched on day 20 one piped but had that glue looking stuff at the pip spot and didn’t make it.
The other looked like was to hatch at anytime but after 36 hours I took the two hatched chicks out and tried to help the other a little by cracking the shell without touching the inner liner. I noticed the liner was very dry and assumed my humidity was low so I added warm water to the Bater and sponges. My hygrometer was showing 60 % but ave since found that it’s broken.
Waited a couple hours for temp / humidity to see if it soaked in the liner but could not see any change in it. Ultimately, after several hours and small assisting sessions I got the chick where it could break out but it’s neck, wing and one leg were stuck to its body with orange goo. I’m assuming this is yolk material at it pipped through the sac allowing it go everywhere.
It’s survived 24 hours but I really see no change in its appearance, won’t get home for another 6 hours to check on it.
It had been chirping loudly since it piped and I can’t imagine it would have ever gotten free of the goo, or did I jump the gun?
I know I was over humidity during incubation as all had smaller air sacs than normal. But is this an issue at lockdown humidity?
Sorry chiknewbie327 didn’t mean to hijack your thread.

8 healthy chicks is great!! I had 6 out of 8 hatch, one of which I’m not sure if it will make it or not, she’s really weak. Fingers crossed she will be okay! And fingers crossed yours will be too! I absolutely loved the experience of incubating and hatching our own, but my husband is such an animal lover that I think he’s having a hard time with the fact that 2 didn’t make it, so we might just try to purchase some young chicks next time if we can find them.

It’s been an adventure.....So far it’s been resiliant. I had to basically do 90% of the hatch. It’s colored like one of the barred rocks but is really small compared to all others.

It took 3 rounds of pulling it out and wiping it off to get the goo off so it could open its eyes, move its neck and unstick it’s wing(was glued down)

I tried to work fast not to chill it and get back to bater to warm it up.
Took a coffee cup with warm water and gave it a bath which worked best. I had little hope after all that stress it would survive, as it had one leg stuck way out and it kept rolling over on its back as if has neurological issues.

However I dropped the humidity, forced it to drink a little water and locked it overnight. Next am it was dry and sitting upright!

I had one bantam in the mix that is small so I placed him back in the incubator for some company and motivation. Put water and sprinkled some food on paper towel. Both ate and were drinking so I added water to the bottom and went about my business. Fast forward a few hours I check on them, humity has skyrocketed from 40 to 95%, little bit was soaking wet again, bantam chick was damp but not nearly as bad as the runt.
Grabbed my other incubator heated it up, then transfered them to the water less bater.
Ultimately I got the humity stabiliziled. Yesterday I put them back in with all the others and as of today it hasn’t gotten trampled, even with some of the “energetic” others.

My concern with it now is it’s eyelids look funny, I had a goose that looked like this and it died after several days, anyone recognize this issue?

I've Got 2 hens that have been broody, one first time mean mama about 3-4 weeks and a bantham second time mama 2-3 weeks sitting on ceramic eggs.
Right after dark I slipped in little bit under the 2nd time mama and she sucked it right under her.
Got another chick and put under meanie, she was reluctant at first but when I can back about 30 min she had taken it in.
Just now put all the rest out under the hens. The bantham gave each a good peck them scooped them under her.
Meanie did more fusing at the chicks than anything but lest she didn’t attack them. Fact while they were standing at edge of the nest I tried to pick one up and she went after me pretty aggressively. Gonna be good mama hen I think.

Gonna double check they havent fallen out the nest before I go to bed them gonna call it done.
