So yeah,
I went to the aquarium to get a hygrometer, I came out with two catfish. I miss my old tropical aquarium including my catfish and I've had algae build up in my goldfish tank sooo...

Soooo I kind of ended up with 4 more fish today :lau

Petco is a dangerous place lmaoooo

I’ll get better pictures when I get them home.

...I'm the same.

I got another one :lau

But only because I’m gonna euthanize Draco tonight if he’s not dead already when I get back:hit

I know it sounds callous but I already have the second tank all set up and I spent a lot on all the proper equipment/supplies for two tanks and live plants for both and other random stuff so I don’t want the money to go to waste by leaving the other tank unused.

I am of course going to drain and clean it first though, although I don’t think he has anything contagious.

All that said, even though I haven’t had him long, I really liked the little guy :hit

Anyway, in other, more happy news, Flame is thriving and LOVING his new set up LOL I have yet to add the plants but he still loves it.

Sorry Kelsey. Sometimes I have good luck with a betta, and sometimes they go bottoms up quickly. I think how long they have been sitting around in the cups can affect their longevity. Good luck with the new one.

I will be heading to Petco Sunday to get a few more fish myself. Hopefully a couple more angels, Cory cats, and some tetra, not sure which variety yet until I see what they have. Oh and maybe another gourami or two. :)

Thanks!! It sucks cause he was so active when I first got him home and I feel like it’s my fault cause I made some mistakes/didn’t put him in the tank right away and I think I stressed him out yesterday trying to treat him.

ANYWAY.

He had moved when I got back. Not far but considering he had been in the same spot all last night and all day today, that’s improvement. And he was swimming a tiny bit. Not much. Mostly just to go breathe and then he kept moving trying to find a new spot to lay on the bottom. But he was upright and not on his side like yesterday and not gasping for air anymore so I think I might give him another chance. I haven’t planted either tank yet and wasn’t gonna do his cause I honestly thought he was a goner.

He still is pretty lethargic, let me net him with minimal to no struggle, idk if he even saw it coming, and didn’t really fight being in the net except swimming a bit so I’m a little nervous about letting him live.... would hate to prolong his suffering if he really is suffering. But I also hate to be a jerk or murderer and kill him if he’s making progress, however slight, or because I need the tank or something stupid.

I also feel like I haven’t tried enough either.

So I think I’m going to plant his tank and try a couple more things and give him a few more days.

If he really starts to suffer or show now improvement then I’ll consider putting him down.

I honestly thought I would have to put him down tonight because he hadn’t moved at all and looked dead.

But apparently he wants to live. :lau

Do you think he knows I already bought another to replace him? :lau

No matter, I’ll just have to set up a third tank if he pulls through. :D

But I just can’t justifiably off him if he seems to be improving.

And it sounds stupid but I even prayed about it just a bit ago and asked to let me know/make it clear and that’s when he started moving more.

Course I was also messing with him/his tank but still. I’m not now and he’s still moving around.

I do think he’s blind though or close considering he didn’t care about the net and doesn’t seem interested in food but then again Flame isn’t either. I think they just don’t know that it’s food yet.

Anyway, I’m glad he’s improving some but guess that means I gotta get a third tank now for Ice. :lau

Horrible pictures but here’s his tank and him. Maybe someone can help me determine if there’s anything super seriously wrong with him.

And he was behind that filter all night seriously on deaths door not moving at all. I thought he was dead. Now he was on the side/corner leaning on it. And swimming around a little bit. Not a ton but considering I thought he was dead all day that’s a good sign I think?

But maybe he still should be put down? Probably hard to tell from these.

Sometimes a betta can get exhausted in a bigger tank because they have spent their whole lives in smaller containers and need to build up the muscles to swim in a tank. Perhaps that's what is going on with yours Kelsey?

That makes sense. Never thought of that before. I do think he’s a little sick or something though because yesterday he was on his side gasping for air and his eyes are clouded over and even in the cup he was acting sick all of a sudden but he does seem to be improving slightly so I am going to give him another chance I think. At least a few more days. I am testing the water right now also. Don’t know what I am going to do with Ice though. Guess I may have to get a bigger team. Flame seems to be swimming around at least a little so hopefully Draco can recover.
