I have fish! Three guppy tanks, and my mom is starting out with saltwater. Unfortunately I'm having a sudden wave of deaths after buying some new fish at the fish store, and I can't figure out what's going on! They don't have ich, but their eyes get cloudy and they start acting like their blind. Fins deteriorate and their gills look red. They die within 2 to 3 days. Losing a lot of fish right now and desperately doing water changes while trying to figure out what's wrong.

That dont sound good. Fin and tail rot maybe ? Have you tried treating w/ anything ?

Not yet, just water changes. I'm not sure what to treat with because I don't know what it is yet. I agree it doesn't sound good, and I've lost some of my best fish already. Thanks for your advice! Do you know what the cloudy eyes are caused by?

I would try treating with some tetra fungus tabs.

Cloudy eyes can be caused by internal parasites, eye trauma, poor water conditions, and low ph. What's your ph?

I know this isn't the best method, but I just tested with a test strip and it indicated that the ph was somewhere between 7.2 and 7.8. I've attached (a not very good picture) of one of the affected fish. This one's eyes aren't so bad, but it's wiggling it's body in the typical sickly fish way.

Do you have a way of testing nitrates? Low nitrates is good! Pothos is put into the tank to get rid of nitrates.

I would love to try saltwater but it seems so complicated. But man some of those fish are pretty lol

Sorry about your dead and sick fish though. I just lost one of mine. It stinks
