From what I understand, it does that. Plus, 6.5 isn't a bad PH to be in, especially when keeping betta. I use tropical root tabs, like them quite a bit. My crypts like them more

I planned on having a community tank with possibly some tetras or something in with my betta at that time. But he enjoyed terrorizing my last shrimp that was in that tank so that is was a no go. He killed that shrimp I believe as I haven’t seen her in a month, but he still looks under every leaf for that shrimp.

Kuhlis and shrimp compete for food, but in a non-fatal manner.

Really nice photo! I can see some smaller shrimp in there, so I assume they breed. Do you think that the kuhlis who probably take over the food, make it so that the shrimp breed less regularly due to the lack of food? Maybe even going as far as eating some of the new shrimplets?

I have seen no evidence of the kuhlis attacking the shrimp, just them pushing through the shrimp in quest of food.

I put a few of my RCS in with the kuhlis earlier this year, and noticed an increase in the population within weeks. They compete but the shrimp are holding their own and more! The kuhlis mainly eat off the bottom, occasionally snake their way through the plants as they forage. The RCS eat off the bottom, and in the plants, too, but also are all over the two sponge filters.

I did notice a brownish shrimp, a throwback. To prevent him from fathering more browns I'll cull him soon.

Interesting. I asked because it is very regularly stated that if ones goal is shrimp breeding, they should be housed alone. But it seems like kuhlis don't harm them

Arrgh you’re making me want to have a shrimp colony! I’ve been back and forth on getting a pair of fancy guppies or some neocaridina shrimp. I know you can have both in one tank but I wouldn’t want the guppies eating the shrimp babies.

How big is you aquarium? With enough plants, all is possible. Sure, not all of the shrimplets would make it to adulthood, but a good amount will. Look into endlers as well
