This morning May seems definitely improved. She's alert and bright eyed and feels up to standing, although she doesn't want to put any weight on the foot. Since all her weight is on her left leg, if she had any balance issues, I'd see it. She seems steady and strong. I believe she's turned a corner.
She's getting B-complex, E, aspirin, and a probiotic.
Azygous, what is your aspirin dosage for May and how long have you kept her on it?
Just asking since I'm dealing with, I suspect, a neuromuscular (?) situation with my BA hen and I want to provide some possible pain relief. I might create a posting on her. Thanks.
May is getting one 81 grain chewable aspirin per day. I give her another later in the day if she shows any signs of pain, which she seems to be having much less now. She's getting the aspirin mostly to combat tissue inflammation. Also B-complex to help strengthen her legs. She's been on it nine days now.
Carol, I haven’t been on the emergency forums much and missed this. I’m so glad Nay has turned a corner. I suspect a fracture. Where is she sleeping at night?
Monday update. May is continuing to improve. She seems to have more confidence and strength in her leg. It's now at about the stage that resembles a sore foot rather than an entire leg being nearly useless. She still has some more healing ahead of her, but at this point, I can't see her doing anything other than to continue to improve. May is the pullet just to the right of Su-su.
