DE has recently been a hot potato! The cause of much deliberation and I don't want to upset anyone with my opinion of it! I'm not convinced as to its effectiveness. I do use it and it can be used as a feed supplement. I have never used it as a feed supplement as layers pellets has a complete and balanced diet. I do put DE in the dust bath and they will have eaten by pecking around in it. I do also use it in the coop and nest boxes but I don't use loads and loads of it as it can get quite dusty and I don't want to inadvertently cause respiratory problems for the hens. But to answer to your question I would say yes, they will be OK.

So should I just sprinkle him with the DE dust if so how much? How should I hold him without getting it on myself?
Please tell me you didn't buy DE and that you bought proper permethrin poultry dust? Would it help to hear from a vet that DE is *not* what you should be using?

I brought the same exact brand of powder you suggested.
