FLOAT test CONFUSION!!!

Funny about all the animals. I love them. I also have 6 eggs in the bator. 2 more buttons from my oldest 3. One male tuxedo. One female silver and a female normal. 2 polish and 2 silkies. Lol I'm just hatching the chickens for someone and buttons for me. I wish I could keep them all! Lol

Kwanza looks like a golden pearl color. Very nice! I'm jealous. Hahahha. They grow so fast don't they.

Sorry for the late reply, forgot how much time and hard work pets are haha!

Ignore the mess, this was right before cleaning.

The four here seem to have.. "paired up" You always see the same two together and when i let them out to have a wander around they two always call to each other. It's rather sweet. They are getting a bit cheeky now, the one with the green band was the first to come out and wander around, the rest are now doing the same but they get too eager to 'escape' they always fail, even the green band Huir tried to fly after he had wandered, the silly bugger landed on my partners hand, evident fail there huh?

One is starting to show a red chest, another i am not sure about, maybe anyone here could have a crack at their genders?

Anyway, here they are, Kwanza had the Red band ^^_^^ (The pen needs weather proofing, which i plan on doing at the week start, the fixed perches will be removed then too)

Look at them, they are so so big already. Hi Kwanza! My other hen finally laid her 1st egg a few days ago I immediately took that egg to the bator and yay I saw veins 3 days later. So I'm now at it again gonna start collecting and hatching. So much fun! Lol I have 6 more days for my polish and silkie eggs that are in the bator now. Thanks for sharing your pics, mines are the same exact color!

They are HUGE now, i went this morning to fill up their food (they are spoilt these four, as they are my first four.. haha, they are kept indoors and in my bedroom... they are used to rather cold weather as during the day that room has no heating on, it'd helping them out a lot i think. )

Huir (green band) doesn't wait for me to put the food in the pen, she races over and pecks at the bowl or the water as i am trying to put it in, and you always know when she is hungry as she pecks at your hand when you go in there (ever so gently)

All but one of them comes when i call them, and they are getting tamer by the day. I'm so proud of them and myself :D -smug- Wont be long now before they are laying, it's rather exciting.

Hatching them is so much fun isn't it! I agree! You will have to let me know how you polish and silkies get on :]

*just to add* By call them i mean "Hey cheeky chicks!" They always run over when i call them that or chickens, haha. They are starting to listen to "pests" too, and i love how they 'talk' back when i talk to them. Before i even decided to try my hand with Quail, i mean REALLY try with them. I would never have thought that they could be better pet birds than budgies, cockatiels or finches. They are almost as amazing as my lovebird.

And no matter what gender they turn out to be, i do believe these are the only four that will never have to worry about being food...

I just love them so much, probably because i class them as my pets and not poultry for food or eggs

This is when they were younger and now they decided to mate and lay lots of eggs, then boom all of a sudden I had 9 more lol.

Too funny, cause I have mines indoors in my room too along with my two silkie chickens. I wanted to ask, do you know how to sex these ones? We have the same colors so I was wondering if you knew. I checked a couple last night and saw no red feathers on the bums and found one that did have red feathers on the bum. I read that red feathers mean its a male? I dunno? Lol but I was able to get a pic of one laying on its back all comfy as I was checking for r the red feathers on its bum. She then just laid there on her back. Assuming this ones a she being there is no red feathers on bum?

To be honest with my four the two males have red chests (one is barely showing red) and the females have speckled chests, i actually put a post on here recently asking for someone to confirm i got the genders correct with my guessing, it seems i did :]
I have always sexed them this way and usually I'm not far off.

Also they are adorable!

I have never dealt with buttons but I think on the wild colour it works the same, females tend to have speckles over the chest too bit males don't.

I actually have a few Italian jumbos ready to incubate tomorrow, rather excited to see how this goes. I'm addicted to hatching babies!!!

Ok thank you!

I know exactly what you mean addicted! I forget if I told you but. I already went through 3 batches of buttons 1 batch of chickens and now another batch of buttons and just ordered me a dozen coturnix eggs. Oh my!!!! Lol good luck with yours and keep me posted!
