Flock/Life Journey's 2019

I'm integrating POLs with layers just now. Honestly I think a lot depends on your individual birds. My layers are 2 of the more assertive breeds: BAs & BRs. I did what I could to make it go smoothly but I have limited space so segregation wasn't a real option. The coop was new to both lots of birds & I let the newbies in first to feed & water & suss things out then put the others in just before roosting time. Not smooth, no, but not as nasty as it could have been. I just have to monitor food & water & make sure everyone has access but otherwise they are working it out. They do have plenty of room both in the coop & the run.

What Is called a pumpkin in America is a gourd or squash. *sigh* Squash & gourds are totally different things out here. Now all the Americans can correct me. lol It gets me into trouble every time.
Yes! There are different types of pumpkins. They are a squash.

Gourds are great for decorations and are. We have a lot of them here due to the Hispanic influence in my area

Hello and thanks for all the great pics and stories.

My name is Jason coming to you from Mid Michigan! I am not only new to my flock but home as well and very excited to get our new life journey going. It’s just the wife and I as our kids are grown We will be adding dogs, sheep and goats soon as well.

Our little flock consists of:

All about a month old

Chicks 6 - Lavern and Shirley (Americanas) and the other 4 TBD

Ducks 2 - Burt and Ernie

Turkeys 2 - Thankgivn & Xmas

Looking forward to seeing what works and don’t work for everyone and hope to be helpful as well. Also going to start my garden as so 2019 with some hard work should be fruitful in the near future. We are fortunate enough to have an existing coop so I’m doing a little upgrading and serious clean up. I’ll post pics as we go.

Thanks for looking and thanks for sharing yours!

lol See, none of those are squash. These are squash.

Scientifically they may belong to the same family but squash & pumpkin are 2 very different things out here.
