Flock/Life Journey's 2019

Well, I guess it’s inevitable... chickens attract rats :sick... and rats attract owls :ya... last night we had a screech owl in the tree right out our back door! And it was communicating with another one in the neighboring trees... it was so awesome! The sound of a screech owl is so amazing and eerie! AND loud ... I wonder if the chickens were freaking out a bit!? I had to check for extra poop in the coop this morning :gig
I also, found a half of a rat the other day in my yard.. just the back half.. and it had a ten inch tail! This thing was huge! So I guess that I have the owls to thank for that! Better a half of a rat than a whole rat :D

That's awesome! We have had an influx of snakes unfortunately :rant :hitonly way i know is my dad heard a rattle snake one night closing up the coop for me, and then today i grabbed the egg cajun left me and it had snake skin attached to it! I think they might be in my barn during the day :he and i can tell when they get in from the sand tracks  i also have bald eagles now too which are trying to take my hens!!! And I can't do anything about it..

I'd love the owls here!

Oh wow! A rattle snake!? Yikes! And skin on your eggs!! Too close for comfort! We have the bald eagles and I am awe struck by them :bow... but I haven’t seen any coming around soooo... but I do see the hawks often

Glad your hen’s ok, Ellie!

You’re lucky to have owls, WhoDat! I think the only bird I don’t like are hawks because one killed my favourite splash silkie hen. It was about 3 years ago but I’m going to be more careful with my chickens when I get chickens again in the future. I put a fake owl to scare the hawks away and it worked for a few weeks and I even tried moving it but the hawk came back and took the hen.

We picked up my family who are visiting from Arizona today. Will be showing them around Ottawa, Toronto, and Niagara Falls. It’ll be my first time seeing Niagara Falls not frozen.
