Flock/Life Journey's 2019

Pics
Still at 4 but I can see 2 having a good go at breaking out, unfortunately they’ve pipped at the wrong end so it’s a bit harder for them. I don’t think I’ll sleep tonight

Yay 2 more! Is this your first hatch? Can't remember if you mentioned it or not.

Apparently good things come in 3s, heard a commotion coming from the incubator, one was out and knocking things around, then another popppec out followed by a third who karate kicked the cover off the water lol. That makes 7! 4 eggs left now, 2 haven’t shown any activity, 2 have pipped but not done much more.

I’ve hatched a few times, last one over a year ago if I don’t count a disastrous broody hatch last year. Each time I feel like a newbie again though

Update! It’s 1140pm here. Just moved the most recent hatchees to the “hot box” as I call it.
Took the chance to check the last eggs, 3 are still kicking, pipped and just resting by the looks, may have assisted a little. Last one looks like it’s died, i can see it’s beak but there’s no response when I touch it. So we shall see how these last 3 do over night and I’ll update you in the morning!

That would be amazing love. I love chicks! :love
So these are all the pics I have of my chicks as of recent. They are 1 week and 1/2 hold when these were taken. They will be 2 weeks saturday the 19th :) I am positive I at least have 4 boys. 2 of them being Black Copper Marans, 1 olive Egger boy, and I think the one dwarf with the weird feathering is a boy as well. Also can someone tell me why the second chick I posted(pics 3-4) is feathering like that? He has very long closed looking feathers and then it only shows the bottom part of the feathers. Also the very last pic doesn’t have 2 pics because she was being very energetic :jumpy We named her smushy :). One of our dogs clipped her beak when they were inside for the first couple of days we had them. So she is pretty special ;) The dog mostly got my hand so she was alright but the dog thought she was a toy and jumped up to grab her and it obviously didn’t work. I was holding the chick and also the dog is still pretty new to everything and she has never seen a chicken before so she doesn’t know what it is :hmm. I do have an older dog, Lacey, and she is super protective over chicks and chickens:celebrate I am hoping when the new dog relaxes a little that she will be good with chickens as well.

What breed are they? Such cuties:love

Im thinking should I go grocery shopping tomorrow and clean my house? Or go and buy chickens?
Do I wait and take my partner since they are our babies? Or do I just go and he will love them either way?
So many decisions?
Forget the house work, just enjoy your time off :)
As for choosing new chickens, imo best to go with your partner as choosing them together makes for a special moment for you both to share :)

Im the same. I look at the photo and want chicks again. I had so many dramas when I bought day old chicks but. It was the worst!
We bought some black sexlinks in the fall to raise to 6 weeks for the pastors wife. They did fine but several of them had sticky butt--needed to be cleaned every day for several days.
