Flock/Life Journey's 2019

Winchester's Story
Here is the tale of how I ended up with Winchester, as requested.

It was sometime last August. My step-brother and I went out onto our back porch and heard a screeching sound coming from the side, near the basketball hoop. We naturally assumed that it was some sort of wild animal caught in the live trap we had set out for coons and opossums. Going around to the cage, we didn't see either of those animals, but rather a skinny gray/grey and white cat with a scuffed nose screaming to be released from the trap he had wound up in. There were pieces of mushy dog food scattered around the bottom which I later found out was my mother's doing when she left for work.
I told my step-brother to stand back in case the cat was feral as I lifted the door and waited for him to leave. Surprisingly enough, he didn't take off right away, but walked lackadaisically away into the woods. We tried to get him to approach us, but he didn't want to come. We assumed that was the last we'd ever see of him.

I would like to mention that we rarely get many stray cats where I live, so it was extremely unexpected to find him in the cage.

Later in the day, my mother returned, and we mentioned the cat. She said she knew he was there and expected us to leave him there to take to the humane society or try to befriend(she doesn't understand how the crying of a cat can tear one's heart).
A little later, we hear the cat meowing outside in our garden, and we rush to the window to see. My mother goes out to get him to come up to her. None of us thought he would, but...he did. Soon enough, she was holding him and we all gathered around to pet him.
His fur was dirty and he was extremely skinny. His nose was scuffed and black and his tail had a crook in it, but he was already fixed. We decided we would feed him and see if he wanted to stay. My mother had her mind fixed on taking him to a shelter, but she soon fell in love with him. He was still around after several days, so we decided to name him. We came up with several, but

That's so sweet love. What a great story!

Apparently, only so many words can go on these things or something, so...

when I suggested Winchester, everyone agreed because it suited him(I'm not sure why since the name came from the Winchester gun but...).
Since that day, Winchester has been here to stay and may have even managed to sneak into the house several times as well. We believe he may have been someone's pet, but he may have had some abuse as well since he seems jumpy at times and doesn't like his hip being touched. Even so, he can't be very young and still has his baby teeth.
Here he is when he first came, really skinny and you can see his nose is missing fur
