So yours are slowing up too?

Yep. This is their 1st year laying so not sure yet if they will stop altogether for winter or continue to lay, just not as often.. My best layer is a BR & the only thing that has slowed her down so far is becoming broody. She's still popping an egg out most days.

Edit: Maybe I should add that having an open coop that faces east they are getting every last skerrick of sunlight. They were out as soon as they had enough light to see by this morning & it was quite overcast here. We've had rain on & off all day.

It has started to rain here too. Im working 5 mins from home today so thats good. If its clear this afternoon ill free range them.

Rocks are a winter laying breed. They will keep laying some eggs in the winter even after the first year

My ladies today had cooked Rice for Breakfast

Well I took @KLIL s idea and have been giving small amount if treats in the morning food bin. If the big ones peck at me, i peck back on their rump and they get the picture. Today the got a handful of slivered carrots on their food and while they enjoyed i could clean out brooder. I also did the same for babies and they were over the moon excited not only for the carrots but for the grit too.

Had a rough night myself... either a really bad anxiety attack or something healthwise.... just feeling very slow today. Hubs took off work to watch both me and the 5 yo.

. That’s nice of your DH! Mine just started his job so he needs to be careful taking time off the first 6 months. Already took off 4 days for our recent trip, needs to ask for 2 more for our move at the end of the month and 2 more in June for his graduation.

Back from vets!
Vet got her to vomit everything up. Vet said it was rancid and full of bacteria, stones and straw.
They gave us baytril to give to her for a week.
The vet said that we had already cleared a good bit of it by giving her coconut oil and massaging it.
Happy that she didn’t need surgery.

We brought her to a different vet this time. Last one didn’t know what was wrong with her.

. That’s good that you got a second opinion! I know of too many cases where people should have.

Flock Update: My Lottie is one of the new girls. She's only the size of a tea cup & really sweet. She has been holding her own amongst the big girls but right @ the bottom of the pecking order. I have been keeping an eye on her just because she's super sweet & tiny but found she was sleeping alone when they went to roost. I have been snuggling her in with my Frizzle, Lavender, [also low on the totem pole] because it is starting to get colder @ night & I didn't want her to get in the habit of sleeping alone & the big girls thinking that was ok . When I went to check on them last night, because Lavender is a bit of a clutz & has trouble getting on a roost with all her fluff amongst the jostling, I found everyone had roosted but Lottie was snuggled up with Lavender already & Soda, one of my original BRs, had her other side. I think my flock is starting to settle.

Definitely. I lost a day when I went to England, found it on the way home. My oldest girl has spent 8 years in Chile & I am always in trouble for getting my times wrong & ringing when she should be sound asleep.

Lol my mom did that tonight, she’s 3 hours behind us but didn’t know she woke up DS by pocket dialing me.

My chickens are spoilt. But then again we are all chicken people so we all spoil our babies I swear my chickens think they are hard done by. They act like they get nothing.

She may still want him lovely. But your suspicions were true which is good knowledge for your next lot of babies.

She does! She said her last straight run ended up with not a single rooster so she's happy. And now i know that the cuter they are as chicks may mean gender No but yeah it's been great learning with these guys!
