Do EEs tend to get hotter than other breeds? I’ve noticed Kelly always seems hotter than the restGood morning/evening
All of the hens are doing well here. Starting to be in the mid 60*Fs, which I love. Some of the EEs are a bit hot, but besides that, everyone else seems to love the weather and greens.![]()

How adorable are they?!Photos of the Brahma chicks from today.
They’re starting to get their wing feathers.

They are not the worst but there are a lot of different types of chickens called EEs. It depends on what the parent stock isDo EEs tend to get hotter than other breeds? I’ve noticed Kelly always seems hotter than the rest![]()
she still has a ways to go but glad they are testing it out!!
my little bantams are almost fully feathered wings... so they might be joining the others soon in the brooder (they still like the heat so not yet, though it's like 95 in the coop
) Screen door has allowed for more ventilation and everyone is content, no more escaping from the coop or run for the sussex hen
and I guess they all know i'm a push over as they have started to swarm me and peck at my legs when i go in to clean now.
hoping in the next month we'll have enough to start the permanent larger run! Hoping to make it 15ft by 20 or 25 ft. with a smaller run and open air coop for a grow out/integration area

1/2 the new girls are laying & I'm averaging 4~5 eggs a day in winter. Pretty happy about that. The Australorps have finished molting & one is back on the lay. Lottie has solved the problem of being the smallest chicken in the run...It looks good for winter!FLOCK UPDATE:View attachment 1788286
My new girls are now fully integrated. Even the Campines have been allowed out into the open run.1/2 the new girls are laying & I'm averaging 4~5 eggs a day in winter. Pretty happy about that. And our 1st beehive with stingless native bees has arrived. Sitting between the chook house & the lotus pond.

Thanks, Ronott1. I'm pretty happy to be getting eggs just now & really happy the new girls have settled so well & are already laying. We don't get down to single figures here & even frosts are rare but I really wasn't expecting the new girls to lay before spring. It looks good for winter!
Congratulations on the new egg layers

Generally, I find the Easter Eggers are hotter a bit faster than the others. My SLWs don't get hot in mid 60s weather, while some of the muffed ones do. I don't really know though. They are not the worst but there are a lot of different types of chickens called EEs. It depends on what the parent stock is
I just assume lol.
