Once those posts are in they will not go anywhere though! We started our permanent chicken run with growout pen today!!!!I dislike Texas soil where i am... it's 75% clay, 10% rock, and finally 15% soil
so only two corner posts up so far!
While the kids and i worked we let the hen and older teens out to free range outside of makeshift run. They did great! Till it was time to go in

Good morning/evening all
Yes, I removed the gunk and put gauze with bacitracin and wrapped medical tape around it last week. I checked it yesterday and it seems completely healed so I took it off.![]()

I crossed the blue buff Columbian rooster with the lemon Pyle hen and ended up hatching what looks to be two perfect lemon Pyle chicks with no blue showing.
One is looking like a cockerel and the other is looking like a pullet.

Here in Woodland, CA we have similar soil with clay. If you cement in a post and then have to replace it, is a lot of work getting the cement out!So true! I didn't bother with cement mix, i got one hole cinder blocks and I'm using those and good ol' texas cement dirt to put in the posts! This will be great for if a post gets damaged too or needs to be changed.
