I lowered the light and the first one is finally drinking and even encouraged the other two to drink. Yay! I put electrolytes and vitamins in the water for them, specially since the first one keeps looking up so thinking maybe a bit of vitamin deficiency. I put a bit of food in there now too.

How is everyone doing? Anyone in NC or SC? Hope everyone is doing good!


Outside flock is doing good! I'm getting two eggs a day! Yay! All my brooder babies are looking to be males and since there are so many boys I'm a little worried about fights. Today I didn't get home in time to feed them and so they went a little crazy

But otherwise everyone is doing good!!

Question... all the fluffed chicks are still very wobbly and one keeps looking up, i have the electrolytes with vitamins in their water and they have food available, am I overreacting or should i be adding something more? Right now all four hatched chicks are sleeping and since we moved to my room I'm just staring lol!!! I have two more pipping today so if i need to add something i want to make sure before more hatch

Looking up is not too bad. The vitamins should fix it soon

So I looked around and since they were also dragging their wings and being wobbly, it was still pointing to vitamin issues so i found i had nutridrench and add an oz to a fresh waterer, i also put a tiny dab of it on their beaks. They seem to be a little more alert. But they are still wobbly and the first one to hatch is still letting its wings drag a bit.

They love the stuffed penguin we put in there... and cuddle up to it

BB passed away last night. We don't know the cause for it's decline. This morning there was a new chick hatched but looks like it has something wrong with its legs
Everyone keeps telling me it's normal to loose some after hatch and it's just how it goes but man I don't want that!!! I think my incubator is having temp issues and that might be why some are failing to thrive. We'll see how many make it i guess

So sorry for your loss..hopefully the rest will make it. I've never hatched before..I'm trying though and its a little scary.

Good morning all! Or good evening as the case may be. So yesterday i ran out of feed after morning feeding. Uh oh gotta go to the feed store (i swear this isn't a story about buying more chickssome, um, lovely person went to tsc right before i visited and bought every single last one that there were supposed tio have for the rest of this week)

Anyway back to the point...so i get feed from local feed store and come home. I'm wheeling the big boy down the drive to carry the bag and i just really feel watched or followed....turn around its not my usual culprits
