FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

I got my Wyandottes as chicks at a local Tractor Supply in Macclenny. They were supposed to be Blue Laced Red Wyandotte's. Since these were my first Wyandotte's, I didnt know any better. I really dont care honestly, they are a good group of birds.

My first thought when I saw your photo, I thought maybe your roo might be a White Plymouth Rock. However, since you said he's huge and only 5 months old, I suspect he's a meat bird aka a White Cornish Cross. I've seen them for sale at our local TSC as well. Even as chicks, they looked bigger than a normal standard size chick at less than 7 days old.
I don't think hes a white cornish rock. I think hes a white leghorn

Yes, I got mine at TS too and he’s definitely a meat bird. Could be some kind of cross. He’s all white and fluffy! Every time I look at his feet I think “dinosaur!” 😂

The first chickens I ever owned were White Leghorns. That was many years ago and havnt owned any since. However I currently have a couple of Buff Leghorn roosters, great roos.

@Lili623 What are you going to do with your rooster? They are normally processed at 6 to 8 weeks old. You might put an add on Jacksonville and Brunswick Craigslist, Farm and Garden section or Free section and provide photo.

Near the state park? You must see a lot of critters! 😄

Oh yeah. Bobcats and coyotes and bear plenty. That’s why I raise my chickens to be half wild. I free range 24-7 for all my chickens except those I want genetically isolated for breeding projects. If they aren’t good survivors they die. Most of my birds are hybrid jungle fowl. I’m starting to breed some American and Oriental game into some lines to up their size a bit while retaining that edge.

Yes they are great birds! Curious but very sweet.
Yes, I think I’ll post them on Craigslist. I sent out a few texts to people in my area first but so far no response.

Whoa! That’s so cool and interesting! I am sure they have to be tough birds to survive in that area. I don’t even know if I’d survive 😂

Just a reminder. We are having our farm swap tomorrow. I will be bringing some young cockerels. Everyone is welcome and no fees, just come and set up or to visit.
