Florida COLD

It was cold here brrr I had to trap all my pigeons up. Put the horses in the barn. Put platic all over my pens. And the water still frozen in the barn and my show rooster ended up having a frozen comb. I hope it warms up soon

I'm not sure how cold is too cold, because this is my first winter. But I've heard that chickens are pretty good in cold weather, depending on the kind you have. I have a thin plywood coop exposed on all sides (it's elevated), it has ventilation and there is no coop door. It's been down to -11 so far (colder with wind chill). I do have a heated waterer outside the coop, but nothing else and they've been fine. They puff up their feathers and stay inside most of the time when it's under 10 degrees or so.

I have a Buff Brahma, a Rhode Island Red, and a Silver Laced Wyandotte.

Here are my winter photos (go to the last page): http://www.flickr.com/photos/_kristy_/sets/72157600312195114/
