I have a girl that was attacked by a hawk 3 weeks ago. - we didn't think she was going to make it because there was a lot of damage. We cleaned with vetricyn and sprayed blu-kote and kept her in my she shed. On Saturday she developed this sore and her right side felt warm. I started giving her oxytetracycline 200, 2 ml 3 times a day. Her right side is not as warm, but the sore has not gone away. It is not recommended to give oxytetracycline more than 5 days. I do not know if I should lance the sore and cover with antibiotic cream. Advice please.

Yes, lance it. Just make a very shallow puncture and let it drain. If it has air in it (airsaculitis) the air will leak out harmlessly. If it's water, it should slowly drain. Pus, however, is very thick and would need to be pressed out. Spray with Vetericyn before and after the procedure.
