Foaming eye

My blue sweed drake has had foam coming from his eye that last 2 days, is this serious? what can i do to help him? I’ve been doing warm compresses on his eye.

Hmm….. sometimes in chickens, a foamy or bubbly looking eye can be a sign of sinus and/ or respiratory infection.

It’s an infected nasolacrimal duct (or whatever it is called in birds), the little canal that connects the eye to the nostril that drains excess tears from the eye. It could be a localized bacterial infection or secondary to a wider respiratory infection. If the bird isn’t sick just keep an eye on it but if it’s lethargic, breathing fast, not eating etc antibiotics may be warranted.
