Food grade DE vs. Pool grade DE for worms

Can someone explain the difference between Food grade DE and the DE I use for my pool filter?
I've been using the pool DE as a dusting in the coop to prevint mites and such. Has this all been for naught?

I'm not sore about the details, the difference has something to do with the processing method. I know pool grade DE is VERY bad for animals. I'd clean it out of there if it's within the bird's reach.

Pool grade DE is POISON! Do not use it!!!! Don't use gardening DE Either.

You want to use only Codex Grade Fossil Shell Flour - food grade DE.

That was a insightful lesson....
I've been using the pool grade on and off for a while only in the nest area . I'm now going to wash the whole place down and throw out the DE I have left.
