Ok, that fact that the boyfriend lives with you will open another can of worms. Your gonna have to provide info on rent and such! Say he is a room mate and not your boyfriend. other wise you will have to include his money and his parents will have to show their income verification, since they pay his bills and you live togther.. Say you prepare your meals seperatly and are ONLY roomates!!! They are gonna want to know where every dollar is from!

And for those cashiers~ Do your job, scan the product and shut your mouth! Say something and i will take that government cheese and ram it up your

And yes, me and mt daughter ate like kings when i got them....What should i buy bottom line food just because? trust me i stretched my dollar but yeah we do eat steaks once and a while~
Also everyday at the salvation army they give out bagged lunches and many have food banks there. It will be like 1 bag a month but if you hit up churches as well, you can add to that!

Now on with the show~

Until recently I never realized how common it was.

Last month as I sat in line I was nosy and wanted to see how many other people around had an "RI Gold Card" (my husband and I jokingly call it that)....
I was standing in line with two people in front of me, and one man behind me. The first woman paid with foodstamps, the second woman paid with foodstamps, and then after I was done, I turned and saw a VERY well dressed older man in suit and tie, and he had it too!!!
I couldn't believe it.

And no it wasn't the first of the month either.

I remember the last time we had to recertify that our case agent said she literally had 1300 pending cases right then in her cubical and that it was the highest number of people ever to be on assistance.

You are working hard, and genuinly need help. There is nothing shameful about that.

There is nothing wrong with someone who needs foodstamps getting foodstamps. It is perfectly fine if not abused.

Good Luck, and I hope things get better for you in the future,
Jason

My son is disabled and receives SSI each month He also gets lifeline phone service free. When he applied for food stamps he was able to get them. He receives all of 16.00 a month. I know this country is in bad shape but I challange any congressman or senator to try to live on 16.00 a month. That won't even pay for food for 2 days let alone 30. If you are able to get the food stamps take them If you are feeling quilty Play it forward when you are able.

It really bothers me when these big companies making huge profits exploit labour laws to the point where their employees have to turn to government assistance just to subsist.

ARGH!

At what point will employers learn that if you pay your employees a decent living wage, give them paid sick leave and benefits, they will have disposable income to spend on the crap that they are pushing and by not showing up to work sick, they won't be spreading it to others and they will work more effectively whilst they are there.

Of course, if you keep your staff scared for their jobs, I guess you can get away with anything.

SHEESH. I despise the almighty dollar and those who worship at its feet.

I say, if you need food stamps and qualify, hold your head up high and put the shame squarely where it belongs - upon the employers who force their employees into this situation.

If you are trying and just can't make it there should be no shame in asking for help. My suggestion is apply and start looking for other ways to improve your situation.
