For Sale in the Houston Texas area (latest info on page 4)

i sold one two nights ago with my trio of RIR hen and rooster. a lady is suppose to be coming by sunday to pick up the other hen and my two mallard drakes. those were the last two hens i had of the welsummers.

the only hens i have left right now are the leghorn, minorca, bantams, gamehens and and older cochin. stoney, up in moscow should have some hens. can't remember if i gave you his number. i'll PM it to you if not. otherwise, you might want to wait till conroe trade days on the 4th of october and see what the traders bring to the swap.

I have 15 or so Welsummer chicks. All are 4 weeks old & most are supposed to be pullets. I got a couple of packing peanuts as well and can tell already that 2 are probably roos.

I may be at Conroe Trade Days w/ a few of them, but live less than 5 minutes away from the Lone Star Expo Center. May not pay to bring any birds into the Trade Days.

i don't mean to be an ass, but i just want to bring this up for anyone else that is waivering about being a vendor at the trade day in conroe.

the gentleman who puts that trade day together is a very old man whose been putting it on for all of us traders for decades. as the conroe area gets more and more sophisticated, the fairgrounds asks for more money to rent the grounds. mr. singleton pays out more than $3500 each time to rent out the space. that's $7000 a year.

if less and less vendors show up, less and less buyers show up. and he won't be able to afford the fee. he's been talking about closing down the trade day for a couple years now. i know 30 cents a bird can be much for a baby chick and not much profit can be gained, but if you have older birds, 30 cents a bird isn't that bad. if it hurts that bad, tell them you're only bringing in 10. it's not like they count the birds that's in your cages.

i know the state of texas also makes it tough to sell birds since you have to pay $25 to get a permit. but we really need vendors out there at the trade days. think of it as a charity of $3.00 to keep this venue going up in the montgomery area. ;-)
