For the love of god that was disgusting!

its seconds not minutes, MINUTES would put a whole new twist to this rooster dance thing. If it was 15 minutes my poor chickens would all be Bald judgeing from all they feathers the loose in the quick grab and go encounters

Are you all so sure about that rooster showing you who is about to lay - I had to cull my EE cockerel because he was mounting my bantam cochin chick/pullet - I got them all at the same time (Easter) and the EE were supposed to be sexed......anyhow I culled him a month ago and still no eggs.....

I think it is just a possible indicator of laying soon, but Aran just has a horney roo, I bet he would dance for the neighbors cat if it got too close.

15 seconds is more along the lines of what we are all capable of....no point in bragging about no 15 mins!

And yeah maybe after reading cynthia's post i will reconsider stealing speckledhens blue orp roo! Shame too because ive really been practicing my rooster dance lol

I must have the only gentleman Rooster in the bunch. The other rooster (he's in rooster heaven now) acted like ya'll are saying, but Big Red is so sweet and gentle with them that I have witnessed that the hens come to him. And he doesn't show any aggression to me or my family. My other rooster used to bow up at my two year old and I had to show him who was boss a few times. Not Big Red. I rarely catch him mounting, but when I do, the hens seem to ask him for it. I hear "Mr. Boombastic" in my mind for him. Fits him perrrrrfect, he's big and slumbering.

BTW this thread had me laughing to tears too!
