We really had no choice after starting in Ross Port the morning, then heading over to White River( home of the original Winnie the Pooh BTW) in the morning and heading north to Ont 11. We ate a big plate of Poutine (french fry's, cheese curds with gravy) with coffee and were back on the road. Headed east after hitting ONT 11 and ended up back in Nipigon for the night. Long ride for a day in that country. Great country you have up there. Very wild and open. BTW- didn't mean to hijack this thread at all. Just had to comment.
Ya I am slowly realizing this winter is going to be a cold one for us northern Ontarians. It sure came on quick and we usually see the gradual temp drops but not this year, dropped real sudden. Dh went out first thing this am and got the eggs, all were still in the cooling process but one, which felt a bit cold, like refrigerator cold, so it was not frozen. I do like the scenery in the highway 11 corridor, very beautiful for sure, but the lake superior area is far better in my opinion, I believe thunder bay is quite breathtaking...well maybe not the city in itself (I hate cities and high traffic) but just the outskirts where you get to about marathon and the campgrounds, like sleeping giant.
Well what else can I say, if we have this much snow now, imagine in a months time, at least it makes for good snowmobiling and snow shoeing, and the ski resorts will be quite happy!! BTW I remember the august snow, only because my company was holding the family day party that day and I was wearing shorts and a tank and sandals and I had to tread through the snow in that...BRRR but luckily it melted rather quickly, that was a bit freaky, it made me wonder why in the heck I chose to move up here!!!! ahahahaha
