Forum Performance - Is it still fast, even for dialup users?

Hey Friends,

I like to check in from time to time to make sure the forum is still zippy fast for everyone including those on dial up connections. We've added quite a few new tools and features over the past few months and I want to make sure the server upgrades are keeping everything running smoothly.

So... I'd like to get some feedback from members (especially dialup users) to let me know if the forum is still consistently running fast and smooth.

If you are experiencing poor performance, please tell me which pages are slow and if they are always slow (for example, index page, reading threads, posting replies, etc.)

I have dial up and so far so good. Though at times it can be a bit slow... I have yet to determine if it is heavy use or my computer. Chat is still ok and its only slow when theres lots of posting on.

I don't particularly see much slowing of the forum at this point in time.

Hi I have dial up and I normally have no problems with the speed of the forum. Actually it is quicker to get into then my email, which is yahoo.

No complaints here, Nifty, and I have dial up. Probably will forever since we live in the boonies and no one seems interested in putting the necessary whatevers out here.

Yes, I have dialup too and BYC is superfast compared to yahoo mail, thanks.

Dial up user here and no problems. This site is faster than most that I visit. Its nice to have admin. that actually care. Thanks

I live in the "boonies" too ozark, isn't it great?! I'll take it over high speed anytime.

works as good as any other pages, sometimes I dont see the PICTURE heavy post, because they take forever.

Used to live in the Boonies, but getting 1600 houses and a mini mall in the field across the street, now the farm behind me is up for sale wonder what they are gonna put there??

We enjoy the country also - so we sacrifice high speed internet and put up with dial up. I agree with the other posts above: this site is much faster than our Yahoo mail and other sites as well.

During the day I log on via my cellphone hooked up to my laptop.
Depending on my location the speed is 25% to 400% compared to
dialup. At home I'm on fast DSL so it's awesome there.

BYC works great even when I have poor coverage. Your doing a
VERY GOOD job of keeping the format quick and streamlined.

It also works well on my Windows Mobile Phone (T-mobile MDA) running
the Opera browser. A mobile.backyardchickens.com would be nice.

Hi Nifty, no problems here, still fast on my dial up connection. Thanks for keeping us in mind.

When we get some extra $$, we're going to get satellite internet... if we ever will have any extra.
