Fostering Dog for A Friend in the Marines **Update Owner Now Home pg. 4

Press release sounds like a good idea. Might get some locals interested in helping out if not for Slim than for other military pets.

No updates. Still waiting on a start date and location. Also any helpful info about Slim such as if he likes to go on car rides and does he get car sick. Figure that might be useful.

That and how well he gets along with kids, males, females, other critters. Plus a few other questions I thought of that people might want to know before taking him even a few miles.

Again..if you can get him to Mass.. i can try to get him to you in Maine..
Like i said..i would ask them to fly him into Westover Airforce base in Chicopee, MA.. I can get him from there..

Have your friend find out if they are flying cargo/ or whatever planes into westover anytime soon...
I bet an army cargo plane would bring him up for her... she just needs to ask.

Well due to yet another schedule change my friend ended up having to book Slim on a Continental flight for Feb. 19th. So he is getting her just a bit sooner than expected. Not that I mind.

Hope he likes snow though since we are getting almost another two feet of the stuff today.

So there won't be a caravan. Thanks for all the offers. Even if the caravan didn't take place it is comforting to know that there are scuh great people on this forum willing to help two complete strangers.

Perhaps early next year Slim will need a lift back home Unless he decides he prefers Maine over North Carolina.

I'll keep everybody posted on how he's doing though.

Kudos to you for helping out your friend like this! I flew with my dog from KC, MO to Jax, FL so she could stay with my dad while we are in Japan. I can't tell you the relief in knowing our Maggie is being taken care of until our return. So glad things worked out!

Out of curiosity: Since your friend isnt leaving until July, why can't she just drive up your way to drop the dog off or even meet halfway? When we were stationed in NC, we drove to NY to visit Dh's family and it wasnt too bad of a drive....

Originally the plan was for her to drive up to Maine. Her kids were going to stay with her father who also lives up this way and the dog was coming to me. But the military upped the date of departure for training so the plans changed. So instead of leaving in July she leaves at the end of this month. That meant she needed a quick solution.
