Hello,

I found a Cackling Goose outside of my work. Thinking something might be wrong because he will not fly. I am completely new to geese, I know nothing about them. I have chickens at home and was thinking I would just take it home and let him roam around our yard until he leaves on his own free will. Im not sure. I think they only eat greens. Does anyone have a cackling goose?

I was thinking about just letting him go where I found him but there are many cars that just speed through here, it's a very commercial/industrial area so I guess that would be my last option.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cackling geese eat grass as their diet in the wild, but they will eat waterfowl feed if provided it.

You should really try to get it to a wildlife rehabber. Something could be wrong with it, and it may need care and treatment. Plus, it could be carrying some nasty diseases that it could give your chickens. A wildlife rehabber is the best place for it.
