It was randomly in the yard. I didn't see a nest above it anywhere and it's intact (not cracked). I do have a young Phoenix, but she hasn't been known to lay yet. Our flock free ranges all day. It wasn't in a nest, really, though . Is this possibly a Phoenix egg or a random bird egg that fell? As little as it is, there is a slight weight to it.

There are so few Japanese Phoenix eggs online to compare.

My Phoenix, though she is young, is incredibly small... while the "breeder" said she'd be a full size chicken when I asked, I don't believe him. She is easily 1/3rd the other two that are her age (an iffy Barnie and a Buff Brahma).

How old is your phoenix?
Can you post a pic of her?
Could be a bantam?

I just realized this got moved. Let me get a picture of her. She is teeny, tiny, though.

I do have some Mourning Doves around. We do have storms off and on, but I looked for a nest.

They are about 4 months old, she may be older, as she feathered more quickly.

I had 2 silver Phoenix hens last year (they kept excaping so we found them a better home before the feral cats got them) their eggs were small but were bigger than that by 2 or 3 times
