*Ill get picture up later, but i cant figure out what species of snake this guy is.

He is about 1 1/2 ft long - maybe
Black with yellow and green markings
water snake im guessing since he wont come out of it.

I have him in a little 1 gal aquarium with potting soil, an inch of water and some weeds for cover. He is burying himself in the soil and swimming around or else just sitting in the water under the soil. His stomach is yellow and black broken patterns. He is good at scaling the sides if that helps any.

Here he is - sorry iyts a crappy pic, took it with my phone

If you were up by me I'd guess a gardener snake (garder garter? SP?) but without pics I dunno.

Agree w/o pics I'd guess a garter snake from the color description. They will go in water--I once caught one while flyfishing.

Sounds like a ribbon snake...harmless. Eats minnows in the water, but does not live in water. You can keep it in the aquarium on soil or grass clippings with a water bowl. Feed it minnows in the water bowl. Also small crickets & such.

Nope

Not a ribbon snake. The color looks like cracks in the black, not bands or stripes.

It looks similar to this , but i dont think this is it :

I think it looks like a baby king snake, What does it's belly look like?

I'm not sure what it could be either....

maybe you could email the pic to your local zoo....I'm sure they'd know for sure
