Jeez, I started a genetics lesson! I used breed gerbils in my classroom and the kids had to work out the possible offspring!
I personally don't care about the egg color. Most people here are SCARED of my green and almost-blue eggs. They are deeply suspicious of my almost-pink eggs from one of my Australorps! People also think the brown eggs are for cooking and the white ones are for eating!
I gave a 1/2 dz of eggs to a student who found three used HovaBators at a yard sale for $5 each so he could try the bators out. His (if they hatch) will hatch before mine and I would be interested to see what kinds of mutt chicks he gets.
