I have 6 hens that are a year old. They stay in an enclosed coop with an enclosed yard. Got home at 9pm to check on them. Found one sitting in the nesting box sitting on eggs and the others were making noise. One hen was dead in the corner. No Evidence of anything getting in. Looks like she was sleeping in the roost and died. No marks on her. Did note that her vent has yellow discharge and was red and swollen. This is my first flock. Do I need to treat the others with something? They all look healthy. Normal poop. (looked in line) any suggestions would be appreciated.

Birds die unexpectedly and suddenly sometimes. Monitor the rest of the flock for the next couple weeks to ensure you don't have an illness at work. Rarely do diseases just cause birds to drop dead without at least some warning, though. So, what you probably have is a case of a bird with some sort of internal issue (heart, aneurism, etc.) that was not visible, and is strictly limited to her.

I am sorry for your loss. Good luck with the rest.
