Found these abandoned, what breeds?

We found these sweet little things at a pond cold and wet and all alone. Anyone have an idea of what breed the chick and duck are? Also, can you raise a baby chick and ducking together? Thanks!

Yes they can be raised together. Although it is best for them to have more of their own species.

Poor tinies to have been dumped.

Who would do such a thing? That's literally a death sentence.

It's not ideal bu they can be raised together.. they both need warmth. I would use a game bird or turkey starter crumble to feed them.. around 28% protein.

ETA: animal dumping is crime and it should be reported to the proper authorities.

Definitely better in the long run for them to have others of their own species for proper social development, but for sure can raise them together to start with. Just a caution that the duckling will quickly outgrow the keet and can clumsily injure its friend. Also nutritional requirements will differ quite a bit as they grow so potentially a divided brooder where they can see each other but still have their own appropriate food available may be best.
I say social development because I obtained a “pair” of birds that had been raised from hatch together. One was a sebright pullet and one was a mule drake. Not a good combination. Neither bird really had a clue as to how to interact with their own species, but also couldn’t seem to figure out how to interact with the other, either. Things got even worse when the drake hit puberty and was extremely possessive of “his” hen. Recipe for disaster when a tiny sebright pullet gets cornered by an amorous, very large drake...

The ’chick’ is a baby guinea, called a keet.
The duck is likely a Pekin.

Wow, it breaks my heart when people abandon ducklings at ponds... and injured ducks to. People say to themselves “oh it’s a pond! The duck will like that, it’s wing will magically heal, and all of its predators will wait until it’s healed to go after it...” an injured or young duck is defenseless when abandoned like that, and will probably die/be killed. People just don’t want to put it on themselves to save them. I have a great story of a duckling abandoned with a broken leg. We raised him indoors but his leg never fully healed, he walked so strange, not like a normal duck, it was just how he first learned to walk. Once he was old enough to be released we brought him to our Nature Center where they cared for him in captivity with a few other ducks. When we first brought him over, all the ducks walked normally... then after a few weeks of visiting the people at the NC told us all the ducks had started to walk like him! It was hilarious! I don’t know why they did that, maybe someone here does, but it
It was also so sweet and I’m glad he got to live that long life, which he would have missed out on if the person/mother duck who abandoned him left him somewhere we wouldn’t have found him.

I will go ahead and add that is is a guinea keet, and in my opinion a Pekin duck although I don’t have any idea, it just looks to be (a lot of ducklings have that color down So it’s hard to say for sure) and I HAVE raised ducks with other species but they had at least one of their own kind with them. you will need to Make sure that they are raised together, never separated until you can find another duckling and keet for them, YOU will also need to spend a lot of time for them, so that they will bond with you and know humans are safe.
