is it safe to give a hen a fowl pox vaccine any time as a adult bird? I have a hen now that has wet pox and I don't want the others to get it. is it safe to give it to them even though they have been exposed to the infected bird? please help

thank you so much but that info was for chicks but my hens are adult hens. 2 hens is about 1 year and the other is 10 yrs old. any thoughts

I think that it is fine to vaccinate unaffected chickens when there is an outbreak of pox. Here are 2 very good links about vaccinating for fowl pox, and the second one has more info:

Yes. Fowl pox is such a slow moving problem that if other unaffected birds are vaccinated soon enough it can be avoided. The disease remains active for a year or more on the scabs that fall off. Pretty much vaccination is required from here on.
