fowl pox with secondary swollen and foamy eye

Just went thru this with my flock. The eyes were my concern. I used all of the medications you mentioned but never went to the vet. I would wipe out their eyes with warm water twice a day so they could see. Put the oxy in the water and used the gel in and around the eye for a few days then went back to just warm water. Also used VetRx down their throats. The pox just ran its course which not much you can do. The eyes will clear up too it just takes time.

I just found this in my Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook:

Thanks for this and the PDFs. I will start treatment tomorrow and see where we're at in 3 days, and push it to 5 if need be. It looks like the withholding period on eggs is 28 days (or forever, depending on what country you're in).

Well, good news, the pox is finally clear, and she seems to be using her eye with no problem, and there's no evidence of the pox inside her eyelid scratching her cornea. She does have some pox scars on her face and waddles, and she isn't laying yet, but she's active and seemingly doing OK. The last round of antibiotic cleared up the lingering infection too.

thanks for everyone who chimed in. I've learned a lot about chicken health through this ordeal.
