My girls outside had fowl pox but they're just about recovered from it now (it was pretty mild no major issues). But I have chicks inside that will be ready to come outside in a couple more weeks. I'm having a hard time finding things on how contagious chickens are after their scabs are gone. I read they can spread it through abrasions/scratches and pretty much anything coming off of them, but is this still true after the pox are gone? I'm going to isolate my chicks until their old enough to be vaccinated but they'll still be in the same barn as my big girls. Any information on the pox would be helpful, including info about if ducks can be vaccinated!!! Thank you!!

Welcome to BYC. All I know about fowl pox virus is what I have read, but the mosquitoes in your environment are the ones who spred it, along with any dried fallen scabs that can become aerosolized and breathed in. Where are you located? The recovered chickens will be immune to the particular strain of pox virus for life. Each brand will come with instructions, and you can get fowl pox vaccine or fowl pox plus avian encephalomyelitis (AE) vaccine. Here is a good video which shows how to mix and give the vaccine properly:
