yes, they have rounded tips. Just didn't know if you cut it, if it would work without harming the hen and how do you measure for proper fit to crop.

I'm gonna guess maybe lay it along the bird from mouth to crop to measure and make a mark on the tube so you know when you get to the mark you should be able to feel the tube in crop, no cutting needed. Would that work do you think?

That's what we do with people, it's what I would try, if I had to. Just not a chicken expert, hence all the questions. one of the reasons I joined was to be educated when possible, and add any info I might have.

That type needs no cutting.

If the end is cut you must melt it a little with a lighter.

The ones with the curve on the end are coude caths, which are used as urinary caths in special circumstances, like prostate problems in human males, the tip is stiff as opposed to soft like a feeding tube, hence the original questions. Thanks, good explanation with exellent pictures.
