Fox attacked my duck! PLEASE HELP!!!

she just woke up and started drinking and ate a couple bites of her food. she's digging around in her blanket and walking around a little, im hoping this is a good sign!

Glad to hear she's eating! Hopefully this is a good sign that she will continue to heal.

Sounds like she's coming around. I have had injured birds before and it is amazing how well they come back from an injury. Of course you know you still have a problem. Mr. Fox! Once they find out there is something they want they will be back. Trap it, shoot it, you have to do something or it will attack another bird.

i hope she keeps progressing! thank you everyone for your input it's greatly appreciated!

As soon as my boyfriend and brother get home from work, they will be setting up traps!

When i first got dixie she had a little friend and a raccoon got him. they did a good job catching the raccoon i hope they will be just as successful with this fox.

This little girl has always surprised me! she stayed inside next to me all last night and i was up most of the night with her. her swelling started going down around 2 in the morning. it's 11am now and her swelling is almost completely gone. she still wont let me touch her wings. she's walking around a little bit and eating and chirping. she's still very sore so i will try a warm bath with her today.
thank you all for everything!
im still worried about internal injuries but this is a good sign!

Glad to hear swelling is going down! That's a great sign! Is she eating more than she was last night?

I know how you feel, when I went away for a night, my sister forgot to put the ducks in their pen overnight and my 2 favorite were taken by foxes. We have 5 dogs that the ducks rule but their presence during the day prevents any foxes from coming in our yard. Unfortunately our dogs are locked in at night so they don't disturb the neighbors, so penning our ducks in the pm is important. After the incident, I did let the dogs out for the first few nights in order to guard my ducks. The foxes definately returned, because my dogs made a rucks for those 3 nights. Now all is quiet. I hope your duck recovers and....get a dog.

Having a dog that will protect your flock is really nice....but training them to do so is a process and so is picking the right breed is important too. I would love to get one someday, we had a boxer as kids and he was the greatest guard dog. I am so glad to hear little Dixie is doing better, keeping you in my thoughts today
