She smiled back. She grabbed the now passed out pups by their scruffs and put them in the dog bed.
 
Damon and Amari were about to the woods, she told him to go on without her. He had looked at her surprised, but complied. Amari ran along the edge of the woods, until she was at the woods off the back of the house. She smelled around until she found what she was looking for. "There you are little silver mouse!" She said to herself. Picking up Sebastian's and Nina's sent she started running. She had done what she had promised earlier. After all, she gave him a head start. Now she thought,"let's see how far you got."

(Nina and Sebastian are almost two miles out, not to mention the scent is old, and its snowy and snowing! The scent would probably be buried under new snow, not to mention their tracks :p But if you want to find us, I dont mind :p)

Sebastian giggled at her, than nipped her back playfully. Getting serious, he said, " I scattered Hawthorn branches and their thorns all around the den. be careful not to step on the thorns they leave a nasty sting." He warned Nina.

Nina shuddered, "I stepped into a whole bush of them a few months ago, I still have scars from those." She said looked at the top of her paw, where she had deep scars from struggling to get out of the bush, she had them all over, but her fur covered them.
 
(When I was visiting my family in the spring I was wresting with my nephews and nieces and one of them got me off balance, it took me forever to get out of those thorns! They hurt too!

My geographic mental image is from the layout that you described. "the woods are so dense that light couldn't get in", so neither could snow. Which I don't understand, because in winter deciduous trees, lose their leaves. but based on your description there couldn't be but a small dusting. Now there is a time discrepancy, that I don't think you're aware of. Damon and Amari had only been at the house an hour. While Sebastian and Nina had been in the woods a day. so she's following them an hour after they left not a day and there was no mention of a snowstorm to cover the tracks or their sent. I am just saying that's how my mind works. I pay attention to details. I think three moves ahead, before I move any of my characters.
