Freaking out! Meyer Hatchery and/or the Post Office has lost my order! 1st UPDATE, PICS PAGE 3 - Mor

I am not sure about lakenvelders (except that the roos are gorgeous), but I have some salmon faverolles and they are adorable and a lot of fun. They also lay very well (all winter in fact) and dealt well with both winter and summer in Northern NJ. Apparently, not that I would eat mine, they are also very good table birds.


Lakenvelders are really beautiful birds. I was put off when reading several companies' catalog descriptions of them as mainly an exhibition bird. I'm glad you have had such a good experience with Salmon Faverolles.
 
I just called at the end of the 48 hour period to finalize my report and get a refund for my missing bird. (I had called right after I got my chicks on Wed. to say that they only shipped 16 of my 17 chicks. They said to call back on Friday.)

They will only give me store credit!

I paid for 17 birds, they only shipped 16 and now they want to give me store credit to a store that I will never patronize again? Ugh!
 
I'm pretty tired of big business practices that hurt the consumer. i hope there is a way to convince them to take care of their customers a bit better.

I'm so sorry you had a hard time with the hatchery! However you are going to love your Salmon Faverolles!! I don't know anything about lakenvelders though, The Salmon Fav. are considered meat and egg breed, but if your anything like me your going to have a terrible time with the meat aspect of it. LOL the girls are just the sweetest , quiet, and of course Beautiful! Just sayin'

Apparently since the amount refunded would be less than $5, they only give store credit. Or I could have ordered two more birds and they would have shipped me another one. Um, no. Don't think so.
