We were celebrating Miss Ohio winning an award at a kite festival. I always treat her to KFC popcorn chicken when she wins.

It's a soft kite that inflates with the wind and is attached to a lifter or pilot kite. The one in the pic is 45 ft long & made by Martin Lester of England. I believe it costs around $2,000. There is a smaller 14ft version that sell's for $350.

I'm into radio control boats, so I know what you mean by expensive hobby. The thing about the kites is that once you buy them, the wind is FREE.

Hubby LOVES flying kites and he would LOVE those kind of kites!

Man, I am surprised that one kite would drag the truck off the field. I figured you would have anchor the kite with those electrical pole metal stakes (the ones with threads on them).

We had a kite show here at the fairgrounds last April and one guy had it staked it to the ground to fly his huge kite. Said it cost him well over a thousand dollars and imported from England.

Are those kites similar to the floats that we see every Xmas on Macy's???????????

I love KFC. I'm not gonna buy in to the whole *animal rights* thing, though- I'm sure KFC doesn't treat thier chickens like kings, but with all the animal rights groups blowing things out of proportion, I can't tell fact from fiction.

So to spite them all, yum, I love KFC

Verrrry cute silkie too :9

I so agree!! A close friend of mine who is a research scientist and a brilliant man refuses to teach classes at the university where he does his research because of the danger to his family.

This is such a tragedy that our brightest minds have to stay hidden to protect themselves and their families.

Congrats to Miss Ohio on the win!

Awesome kite flying - thank goodness Miss Ohio doesn't have to hang onto those big ones!

You're right, there are many conflicting messages out there. The only real way to tell fact from fiction if one is unsure of the info "out there" is to personally visit several large scale commercial operations. I have done this. I will just say that I don't sleep well thinking about what I've seen nor would I ever give money to those profiting from the chickens kept in cruel conditions that I have seen. Just stating the facts. To be fair, I'm sure not all are as bad as what I've witnessed but it's worth checking into to be sure if one is interested in putting their money where their ethic is.......
That's about as even handed a comment as I think can be made on the subject!
Cute silkie!
