FREE Pallets....what to use them for?!

I can tell you, that tearing them apart, can be a nightmare....They are usually put together with a spiral nail. Unless you are going to use them whole, I would cut the board, just inside the main cross members, use them for small projects, and use the cross members for firewood...They are, generally, oak.

I know you have really been looking at ways to make some cash.

Have you asked the local Ma & Pa hardware and farm/feed stores if they would sell your chicks? Or, better yet, put up an ad so you did not have to let them mark them up or give them a lower price on them. If you have the brooder and space, start some "ready to go in the coop" chicks now for those that do not have the time, supplies, or inclination to wait 5 weeks for them to grow big enough to be exposed to the big bad world!

Make chicken tractors with the pallets and push the whole "you can have fresh eggs in your own backyard... even with limited space!". Offer a package deal of 3 layer pullets or even broilers (if you have such) with a tractor for $150 to $300 depending on size and of course make it cheaper if you are offering unsexed chicks. You would only need a small coop and one nest box for that amount... and an easily movable tractor is not a large one! Just put skids or lifting handles on the tractors... no need for fancy things like wheels or even paint... let them "upgrade" it if they want. Or... factor it into the price.

my son built me a 4 x 8 foot coop completely out of pallets. He framed it out with the pallets then took extra pallets apart and filled in between the slats so he had a finished wall here is a picture of the sides to give you an idea. the whole coop cost us 5.98 for nails.

overeasyplz here a a few more pics He built three nest boxes and put an outside door on them He used old shutters we had laying around and built the front door from them For the roof he used to pieces of metal roofing we had laying around The floor was also pallets he put down and filled in. It now houses my male silkies and there is plenty of room for them

That's a great idea!!! I can make and sell fully ready chicken starter kits with chickens included!!!! That would be AWESOME and incredibly easy to market I believe! I have chicks about to hatch, and can pull trios from them. By the time I get the tractors built and pics taken/ads posted....they'll be close enough to market as a ready set-up!! I have a half roll of chicken wire that was given to me too, so no waste there either
