My grandmother makes kimchi out of dandelion greens, I know how that hoe stance looks! ~ Oaknim

ok ya'll.... I tried the vinegar/salt killer and I have never seen anything like it before in my life!!!!!!!!!!!

That stuff started working within a couple of hours... the grass/weeds were turning brown! AMAZING!

I hope it lasts as long as ya'll said, that would be too much to take. I'm gonna go stock pile on my vinegar today. Thanks for the tip!

I spray plain vinegar on weeds and it works great. The leaves shrivel right up. Then you don't have to worry abut salt buildup in your soil, over time.

I'm trying the vinegar solution as soon as it quits raining here. We have been in a horrible drought for over 2 years and now it won't quit raining. Some of our lakes were down over 10 feet and now they are filled up and over the fill point. I would think it would have to be kinda dry to put that stuff out, right? We have a rock driveway that is suppose to be 2 cars wide and about 90 feet long. It looks like a hiking trail right now because of all the grass. I'm sure it's because of all the rain! I'm not complaining. Today it is suppose to rain all day long. I'm not getting outta my pjs and off the sofa. Not many days like this!

JudyMae, it has been raining here since I first read this thread myself! I want to make that solution as my driveway had $$ of gravel put on it and now, like you said, looks like a path. I am so anxious to douse it. Weather forecast shows rain up through next Thurs. We need the rain and I need patience.

Ozark hen-I know what you mean about needing the rain. My dh keeps telling me to enjoy the rain and the lower temps. Before too long it'll be in the 100's. And we will be praying for rain.

We've got chicks, I think four weeks old at this point. And we had been giving them grubs and other wriggly things we found in our flower beds when we were digging them up and planting there. But now that's done, the girls seem disappointed when i go near the pen and don't have a treat.

So my latest is to grab one of the abundant dandelion heads nearby, and if it's not already open and fuzzy in seed dispersal mode, I simply open it up and put the seeds on my hand. They go CRAZY and fight to get closer to eat them.

So it's killing two birds with one stone -- sort of mowing off the seed heads to limit the amount for next year, and still teaching the girls to associate me with tasty treats. (which means they come towards me instead of running screaming in the opposite direction) ;-)

good luck!

My tortoises would love all those dandelions:D Man to live out in the country hmmmmm. The torts look like baby birds when I bring them the flowers mouths wide open. Its pretty funny they have about as much personality as the peeps.

Shoot! I just found this thread AFTER the fact! I sprayed Round Up on these gigantic poison ivy plants/vines I have at the back of the yard last night.

I keep getting poison ivy because my girls and dog go in it and then get the oil on me! I was desperate! Do you think I screwed up royally using Round Up???

I'll try the vinegar and salt trick next time...I promise.
