Alway best to check you Sate law, here you need a pemit, and can raise and released. Unless its confined , or was known to have been, hard to find you guilty , as bob whites run loose.


Laws change so much from State to State, when it comes to gamebirds.
 
Am I the only person that has no less than 4 species of daylight and nocturnal birds of prey, plus raccoons, fox, coyotes, etc. ?
Not to mention my indoor/outdoor cat. Most quail are no match for that mix. Forget about "PERMITS".

I'm not really willing to expose my flock to the elements. I wrap my pens in 1/2' HWC to protect them, and as much as I like to see a quail roaming free, and a hawk securing food for his/her family....My birds are not on the menu Mr. Hawk!
Free ranging quail of any species is not really a good idea IMHO... That's just me, and several other quail raising friends of mine that will remain nameless

That was basically my point. No matter the predator, keep your birds safe and sound.
