The poppy seeds weren’t washed, enough opioid residue remained to cause an issue so I’ve replaced them with pumpkin seeds.
I was told the poppy seeds in a poppy seed muffin would be enough to test positive for opium, for a human. Don't know if that's true.

@Sally PB They were squabbling for access, I’ve not seen this behaviour with any of the other ingredients offered so I guessed it’s an addiction issue and removed them, they looked for them all morning.

Its true, to a point. The typical tests (I used to sell them, when I worked at a police supply store) from Becton-Dickson and others are merely PRESUMPTIVE tests. They don't tell you that the drug is present, they tell you only that its worth doing more expensive, discerning, and more time-consuming lab work on the sample. Certain substances are known to reliably give false positives on certain tests.

Which test your lab uses, and how far they go in testing, will determine whether poppy seeds on your bagel or last nights hamburger roll will result in report of a positive on your opium or ine (codeine/morphine) test. Ibuprofin (I think that's tylenol?) also causes false positives on some tests. Dextromethorphan and Dyphenhydramine (in most cough medicine, and not particularly effective, according to most studies)? More false positives.

etc etc etc

No, at least not in the USA.
Tylenol = acetaminophen
Ibuprofen = Advil = Motrin
Thanks for the correction!

I have to ask my wife which one I should take, on the very rare occasions I do. Completely useless as a pain killer, somewhat effective as an anti-inflamatory. I know Naproxin Sodium is Aleve - that's pretty much the limit of my knowledge on the subject.

I usually call the one "tylenol" and the other "ibuprofen," so I knew they were not the same. But I had to look up the other names to be sure I didn't mix them up either ;)

Update..

I’ve made a few changes to their menu, the alfalfa seeds weren’t being eaten so I’ve replaced them with clover, some seeds and some dried flowers.

The flax crickets and sunflower aren’t so popular so I’m looking into alternatives but I’ll leave them in there for now.

They’ve not been eating much kelp so I’ve got some Arame seaweed to mix with it which is loads more expensive than kelp but as they don’t seem to need too much seaweed in their diet it shouldn’t add much to the total cost and might provide a wider range of goodness.

Pink had a bad case of the runs last week so I gave her some kefir which cleared it up pretty quick but the others have been taking turns with it since so I left the kefir in there for them which didn’t stop them catching it but they’re all recovering quicker and not getting it as bad as pink did with constant access to kefir. I’ll leave it in there until normal pooing resumes.

Their current menu includes..

•Mealworms
•Calciworms
•Crickets
•Cannabis seeds
•Chia seeds
•Sesame seeds
•Hulled sunflower seeds
•Flax seeds
•pumpkin seeds
•Millet
•Amaranth
•Buckwheat
•Quinoa
•Teff
•Popped corn, ground and mixed with meridian yeast extract
•Chlorella
•Kelp/Arame seaweed
•Nettle
•clover, dried flowers and seeds
•Oregano
•oyster shell/eggshells 50:50
•Himalayan salt
•black pepper
•turmeric
•Water with raw honey and ACV
•Plain water

And kefir which will be removed when they’ve all recovered from whatever was upsetting their digestion.

Interesting, thank you.

I was told that a poppy seed muffin would cause a positive test result if you were donating blood plasma.

The person who told me this was wrong about a lot of things, but right often enough that I didn't dismiss him out of hand.
