I always put my roos on CL for 10-15 bucks..
I have always gotten bites on them. Then when the person comes to get the roo i just give them the bird for free...

It is bad here too, I pass at least 3 houses that have roosters 'tied out' in the yard....now why else would they need to tie them? I have some gamefowl, bantam and large fowl. All of them roam around the place together, no problems except normal pecking order stuff. Probably another reason why I don't give roosters away, I'm sure they'd be used for something illegal.

Very wise. but now you told everyone! lol. just kidding.

The rest I have left are all very good quality standards and bantams... nice breeds. I will do as all of you have suggested. I'll put them up for sale, if no takers, then I will do what is best at the time, whether be keeping or processing.

,

I also advertise mine on craigslist for $10 for the same reason. I figure if you are willing to pay $10 then most likely you don't plan on eating him. Also, charging $10 stops people from trying to flip the birds. I worry about those who will fight the roosters too.

Now if I have a really NASTY roo, I don't care what they do with it.
However, if I have raised a "lover" I don't want him to be treated badly.

you "got it" dead on. It's real bad here.

You know, I just don't know how anyone could do animals that way. I couldn't even do it to a fish. But, we can't talk about all that... rule #2! Whatever that rule means. It's a little vague if you ask me. I digress.

http://www.exceptionalchickens.com/No-to-flipping-.html - try it now... I had a ".com" too much on there.

To answer your original RANT - - -

It is wrong for somebody to "FLIP" something you gave them for free for their personal use.
Those people KNEW you would not of given them to them if they were going to "FLIP" them - - - so they were deceptive and GREEDY.
I believe both of those are recognized as SINS = = = = otherwise know has "WRONG - Just Plain WRONG".

The nastiest roo I ever had was given away and came back to me about 2 weeks later. lol... he free ranged here for almost 2 years and a fox got him. I still was a tad sad... it was weird not haveing to carry a big stick around the yard. lol. I tolerate alot from animals. Now, if person gets on my nerves... I snap very quickly.... cats, dogs, birds, whatever... they can do what they want all day and it doesn't usually bother me. lol. I think we are getting off subject a tad, but I think I just want to show how I'm not just tossing birds out (like some of the first replies suggest in their tone). I can't help but care about them, even when they are gone. I even keep up with alot of my "grandkids" out there.

I know what you mean, though... a loving rooster is sometimes very hard to part with... even when you know you should thin the flock for their own good, it's hard to say bye to a good rooster.

Thank you. I'm glad that most of you agree. There are always some people who just don't get it, but you all seem to understand exactly what I am saying.

Yes, they were deceptive and that is wrong. It's sad and makes you wonder what else they would do if they could get away with it.

I wouldn't want to buy anything from somebody like that - - -

A person like that would have no problem selling you a sick animal.

I am a firm believer in what goes around comes around. Sooner or later . . . . We all reap what we sow

Um, okay, now I guess I just don't get it. I thought I was sympathizing because you wanted them to be pets. If you planned to eat them if you didn't find them a home, then I just don't get it. Why would you care what the people did with them if you yourself anticipated killing and eating them? If you aren't fearing the fate of the roosters, then I don't understand why you would care if they lied about being vegetarians and wanting pets. You lost me on this one....
