Freezing rain and bitter cold all next week

Here's my girls at 9:30 today. 20171223_093020.jpg . It was 29F and freezing drizzle. 20171223_093033.jpg . 2 hens were under coop enjoying pellets, girls outside eating seeds I scattered on the straw. 20170412_054807.jpg I have a 43 watt halogen bulb under coop, so hens can warm themselves if they desire, and helps keep the water bucket thawed. 20171223_092954.jpg . My rear deck.
Still 29F and a lite rain at 11:30, girls are under coop. GC

The ice has left a thick layer of ice over everything, even the chicken wire is covered in a round layer of ice on it! All the tree branches and the tiniest twigs have a layer of ice on them, every step I take in the run I hear a crunch and I squish down a couple inches, the hay has frozen layer over it and the girls can’t break it(Yes you heard me right- my girls are still out playing in the rain, especially my RIR Ember, seen here-

was our all day even after being soaked to the bone, while all the other lady’s stayed in the window or huddled in the cave(side roof overhang) or under the tarp, she pranced about on the ice, she even tried to take a dust bath on the dirt terrace, even though it was covered in a thick layer of ice, she slipped and slid all over but stayed out until well after everyone was roosting, that’s what I call a true New Englanda’

I always let mine choose. They have shelter as needed (for the outside guys at my father's house, and when I used to have outside guys here- my house guys are not adjusted to the cold and will get sick so they never go out in this mess lol the hardest part of their lives is taking a bath once in a while).

Usually even in gunk like we have today, ice and snow, they venture around a bit. Then back to the shelter. I used to have a polish who tried to fly over the snow...but it was everywhere, and she couldn't.
