When can I expect my Silkie pullets to start laying? Age wise.
4 more pips, and three of those are Legbar mixes!e Nothing from the pure Orloffs yet though.
that's great!!Seriously the weather is frigid and I think I have my first broody! She has got to be kidding me!
Awesome! Can't wait to see chicks! Pretty eggs too.
As a general rule, around 6 months some lay earlier and some later. They are a more slow maturing breed.
that's great!!
My Chantecler laid about four eggs, they were all taken from her, but then she started stealing other nests... now she just puffs up and screams with no eggs.lol
Does she puff up and trill if you go near her?I've never had a broody before and this hen is fairly new. I got her in the beginning of January but didn't integrate her with the flock until a few weeks ago. She has not learned to use the nest box yet. But she always lays her eggs in the corner of the run. Last night she had 2 eggs under her and I took them and put her to bed. But all day today she's been in the same corner, just like yesterday...does this look broody?

) because she'd sit in the nest box for hours, growling, fluffing, flattening, and pecking, and then roosting at night, for a week at a time, and then go back to normal.
5/7 pipped, one rocking![]()
