Seriously the weather is frigid and I think I have my first broody! She has got to be kidding me!

Awesome! Can't wait to see chicks! Pretty eggs too.

When can I expect my Silkie pullets to start laying? Age wise.

As a general rule, around 6 months some lay earlier and some later. They are a more slow maturing breed.
4 more pips, and three of those are Legbar mixes!  :weee  Nothing from the pure Orloffs yet though.

:celebrate that's great!!

My Chantecler laid about four eggs, they were all taken from her, but then she started stealing other nests... now she just puffs up and screams with no eggs.lol

I've never had a broody before and this hen is fairly new. I got her in the beginning of January but didn't integrate her with the flock until a few weeks ago. She has not learned to use the nest box yet. But she always lays her eggs in the corner of the run. Last night she had 2 eggs under her and I took them and put her to bed. But all day today she's been in the same corner, just like yesterday...does this look broody?

Does she puff up and trill if you go near her?

She could be thinking about it--back when Frieda's name was Nameless (told the girls that, since Papa had brought her all the way from Redding, he got to name her (otherwise she was going to be named after a friend's dog--nice dog, stupid name)) she was also called my broody-tease (that's still in my phone's suggestions :gig ) because she'd sit in the nest box for hours, growling, fluffing, flattening, and pecking, and then roosting at night, for a week at a time, and then go back to normal.
