French frogs

@Sally Sunshine
I don't know how you had the patience to do what you did with your young friend this morning; I couldn't have done it. Between you & BYC, I was cracking up; 'bout fell off my chair

Fortunately, I was in the deer blind on my other laptop, where I can read the threads but not reply. The two of you must have the patience of Job.

That's exciting! What breed?

Beware of that 20. It will cause further addiction! :D

And you'll be able to fit lots more silkie eggs in it, probably at least 28, maybe up to 35!

Ha! I know! Once spring comes and my young ones start laying, I plan on hatching a lot!! And now I can do it all in one incubator instead of running the two small ones. The only thing I'll miss is the view from the dome. It was great.

It's about flockin time!! :celebrate
I was impressed by the size of it. It's not like a mature bird's egg, but bigger than my usual pullet eggs. If the other 7 start laying soon, I will be setting by NY :fl
My Am's started with a respectable size too... smaller than what the ended up, but not the tiny things I've seen from others...
Sc this is for you!
1000
If he could blow it up that big, he would... :gig
Maybe one of the bigger girls laid a smaller egg. Mine do sometimes. How long between collections? On rare occasions I have had a young bird lay 2 in a 24 hour period Don't look to me to talk you out of it. Soon as I collect 24 Am eggs in 10 days, in they go :thumbsup
Says Mr. Blue... :smack

Ruby, as a parent I know your apprehension. My son was 11, my daughter 5 on 9/11.

If you stop living your everyday life, the fearmongers win. Be smart, be aware, but be ALIVE. Don't hold back on experiences trying to protect against what is exceedingly unlikely. Now that does differ from the idea of taking your kids on a walking tour of the whole of Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston...but don't stop doing what you do every day.

I'm sure you'll come up with a reason to keep at least two of them going

Morning all. My father in law is a snow bird. His breed only has a lay over in Florida though, he then Flys all the way down to Nicaragua for a couple of months. He keeps trying to talk me into comming down with him for the week (He is convinced he is going to die soon and wants to get legal stuff done). I have 2 babies though, and I am not leaving them for a week, and I am definitely not bringing them along on a almost 24 hour plane trip.

Nicaragua is no more than 8 hours from Detroit with a layover in Atlanta...where are you that it would be so far?

So I have a sick chicken and am trying to decide whether to cull. Of course it's my pretty little wheaten Ameraucana that has a sinus infection and a swollen eye/face on one side. Must have developed while I was on vacation, so the whole flock is exposed. No one else has symptoms.

Started tylan 50 injections yesterday, not sure if she is responding yet. Not lethargic, breathing fine.

Thoughts?

Two days should show marked improvement, if not in swelling then in behavior. If you see pus in the eye, antibiotic eye drops would be a good idea if you have them. Isolate her during treatment if you haven't.
